EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
I'm proud to be back again as the Coach of the Run To Cure CF Team!
This dedicated group has undertaken the commitment of completing an event with the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 5 and 6 to raise money to help cure Cystic Fibrosis. The Team is comprised of children who are running the Kids Marathon (one mile), and Relay Teams (several people who will cover segments of the entire marathon distance) to Half-Marathon (13.1 miles) and Full Marathon (26.2 miles) runners. They are passionate in their commitment! A few on the Team have CF, others have children, or relatives with the disease. Some Teammates have no connection to the disease, but found the Team's spirit so energetic that they have joined Team CF too!
Through freezing temperatures, ice and snow during the long and dark winter training months, through the soaking wet and windy season of spring training, they are logging hundreds of miles to have the physical ability to cross the finish line at their event. This is a difficult task in itself; however, this team has added the additional stress of also raising money to help cure cystic fibrosis.
As the Team's coach for the 4th year, I'm helping them to succeed with the physical endeavor. And I support their passion to cure this disease. Incredible progress in the fight against cystic fibrosis has occurred in the mere four years that I've been associated with this organization. But since children continue to be born with this disease, and since people with the disease continue to die from it at such a young age, there is still much work to done in research to cure CF.
I would be so grateful for your support! Thank you!!
