THE STORY:
Philippe & Richard Flamand wrote -
Why save rhinos? At the turn of the 19th century, there were approximately one million rhinos, in 1970 there were around 70,000, today there are fewer than 25,000 in the wild. The last Javan rhino in Vietnam has just gone extinct. Last year saw a RECORD number (443) of rhino poachings in South Africa. Enough said.
Bringing the message East: Save the Rhino Foundation's Running Rhino's have long been a favourite feature of the London Marathon and a key fundraiser for this important organistaion's effort in the plight to save rhinos. The Flamand brothers plan to take them and their message east with inaugaral appearances at first the Dubai (27 Jan) and then the Hong Kong (5 Feb) Marathon....
....yes folks, we will be running full marathons in something akin to a portable sauna with an oversized face mask (see pic). Whether its $10 or $10,000 pls donate to the cause (and spread the word!!)....it'll all help to lighten our load, and ultimately to save what rhinos we still have left....
Yours in rhino welfare,
Richard & Philippe
