EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
Earthjustice is an environmental law organization based in the Bay Area that works to protect wildlife and public lands, and ensure clean air, water, and energy across the US. They currently represent the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their ongoing struggle for the right to access clean water and prevent the DAPL construction, WaterWatch of Oregon in their goal to protect the wildlife of the Upper Deschutes River, and many other environmental law cases. Last year, they successfully halted the Bureau of Land Management from fracking 1 million acres of California's public lands (including the Sierra Nevada & the Central Coast). My uncle Chris Hall was a human rights lawyer who advocated for marginalized people around the world and inspired me at a young age to form connections across cultures and explore wild places around the world. I am most passionate about the environment- it is where I am happiest and feel most alive- and I believe that its protection is fundamental to human rights. I am running my first half marathon on May 7th for Earthjustice to honor Chris's memory. I hope you will join me in supporting EJ and remember to get outside and enjoy this beautiful planet we all call home.
