BENEFITING: Somerville Homeless Coalition, Inc.
Thank you for visiting my Somerville Homeless Coalition fundraising page! I've been homeless before, and it sucked. I am lucky because I had friends and support during that time, and it was a temporary situation. One of my dearest friends, though, Bill Mier was perpetually homeless over the 20 years I knew him. He would sleep at my house when the weather was bad, or just come to bathe. More often, though, he slept in parks, or by the river or ocean, or on fire escapes. He lived on his bicycle. He was always a loyal friend, had a huge heart, and he always shared whatever he had, even if it meant he would go without. He worked as long as I knew him, and never once begged for change. He passed away in January of 2015, still young at heart but with a body beaten & defeated. I am forever grateful to Bill for his kindness and friendship. Bill relied on food pantries like Somerville Homeless Coalition's [until he started food delivery], and he always shared the food he got from the pantries. I'm running this 5k to support the Somerville Homeless Coalition in his memory, so they can help people receive the support they need. All funds raised go directly to the Somerville Homeless Coalition. Will you please contribute? Thank you.
