As many of you [friends, family, and casual acquaintances] know, I have spent the last few months interning with an organization here in Seattle called The Borgen Project. The Borgen Project's mission is simple, we aim to make global poverty a thing of the past. How, you must be asking, do we do this? Through education and advocacy, we hope to raise awareness of the real issues and make sure that our congressional leaders know that we would like to see them doing more to address global poverty.

One amazing thing about The Borgen Project is that it is COMPLETELY ran by volunteers. All of the Regional Directors, the interns, even the President of the organization work for no money, but only out of conviction and a desire to see global poverty become a focus of US foreign policy. The Borgen Project is doing A LOT of incredible work, with a little tiny budget.

I have been trying to figure out how I could contribute even more to this organization. Since being here, I have been profoundly impressed by the organization's ability to stretch a dollar and really put funds to good use. Last week, as I was sitting in the office, it hit me!

I will run a marathon. That's right. 26.2 miles. All at once. But not because I want to be in great shape or be able to say, "I ran a marathon" (though those are certainly perks), but because I want to make a difference for The Borgen Project. March 17th, I am participating in the SunTrust Rock 'n' Roll USA Marathon in Washington, D.C., and would love to invite any and everyone to join me on my quest. No, this doesn't mean you need to fly to D.C. and run a marathon with me. But, there are many ways that you could help me in all of this:

1) I am hoping to raise at least $1000 for The Borgen Project. Beyond the fact that I fully believe in this organization and its mission, knowing that my friends and family have put down money with the expectation that I get my butt over the finish line will most likely help give me that extra push.

2) If anyone ever wants to go out for a jog, I would love company. Rainy Seattle winters aren't the most inviting for long runs, but if I had a friend with me, I'm sure I'd be more motivated to get out there.

3) Tips and suggestions are VERY welcomed. I fancy myself an athlete, or at least a rather active human being, but I have never been a huge runner. Anyone who is a runner or knows anything about it, your pointers would be very greatly appreciated.

4) Pray for me. Seriously.

Thanks for taking the time to peruse this! Your friendship, love, and encouragement blesses me always, and I am excited to have you all be a part of this with me!
