Day 1 & 2
June 17, 2017
BENEFITING: BLUE ARMY OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA USA INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 26, 2017
WHO NEEDS SAILS?
This summer, three men, in the spirit of St. Brendan, will attempt to row 3000 miles across the frigid North Atlantic from N.Y. to Galway promoting the Message of Fatima as God's Peace Plan for the World. Ocean rowing is a growing sport, but never has it been done as a pilgrimage for the love of Our Lady! It is fitting that the row will take place during this Jubilee Year of Fatima. This CrowdRise campaign is a last minute effort to help the team purchase a specially designed ocean row boat, Arctic Joule, to get them across the North Atlantic safely. Time, however, is of essence. The original departure date has been set back to mid June.
Greg Dougherty, President of the Covington Diocese Blue Army, Danny O'Brien, who serves for the Irish Air Force, and Gerald Sargent, a Royal Marine who has served 11 tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, have partnered in this amazing effort to promote the Message of Fatima and to unite Catholics around the world in praying a 54 Day Novena while they are out at Sea. Greg is a former club rugby player who has spent the past ten years doing mission work and prison ministry. Danny is an extreme kayaker leading expeditions down class 5 and 6 rapids, including 80 ft. waterfalls! Both Danny and Gerald are endurance athletes who have competed in several marathons and ultra marathons. Gerald has climbed Mt. Everest and swam the English Channel. The team recently spent ten days of intense ocean rowing training in the UK. They are now trained and ready to go.
If 4000 Catholics respond to this grassroots effort by contributing just $10 to secure the boat, then this incredible mission to lift Our Lady up to the world will happen!
Due to the weather conditions of the North Atlantic, there is a very small window for ocean rowers to attempt this crossing safely. The window is rapidly closing, so these men need to purhase the boat no later than May 6th for them to meet thier June 6th deprture. If not, then the mission willl not happen this year. Please echo Our Lady's fiat and say "yes" to this mission. This is an invitation for Catholics around the world to share in this unique public expression of love for Our Lady.
The 50-70 day rowing saga will be tracked via satelite, so you can folllow the team's progress across the North Atlantic via the website (tbd). The website will also present a catechesis of the Message of Fatima. Catholics will be encouraged to join us in living the Message by offering our prayers and sufferings for the conversion of sinners and the salvation of souls and in reparation for the sins against Mary's Immcaulate Heart.
Catholics around the world will be encouraged to join the 54 Day Novena at Sea. The Rosary will be used as a weapon against the evils of today's modern culture, which have come against the Church. We will invite fallen away Catholics to come back to the faith and hope to inspire vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Greg is looking to enter the seminary after the row.
Several have told the team that they can't raise $40,000 in just one week. It certainly is a lot, but with God, all things are possible! if 4000 Catholics, young and old alike, contribute just $10, or 400 inspired Catholics contribute $100, then this incredible effort to lift Our Blessed Mother up to the world will happen. Please do not delay.
Would'nt it be worth $10 just to see if the team can make it across? When you factor in Our Lady of Fatima and the R osary, then, for practicing Catholics, supporting this effort should be a no brainer! Any monies raised beyond our goal will be used to promote the Message of Fatima. Together, let's do sometthing incredible for Our Lady! Be Bold...Be Catholic!!!
