Roots believes whole-heardedly in our mission of intentional inclusion. Besides offering place-based education for a diversity of youth, Roots creates a culture of understanding through community programs focussed on celebrating our local diversity and finding common ground within the context of our non-judgemental natural earth.

Your donation will give a child the experience of learning with nature (from head to toe) and the opportunity to feel connected, rooted, and alive.

With your help, we can immediately begin to foster a generation of 21st Century change-makers and community-centered innovative citizens. Funds raised in this campaign will go directly toward the implementation of Roots' programs and will ensure that Roots' programs are accessible to all.

Our Elementary School, Community Enrichment programs, and Summer programs are intentionally inclusive and are focused on teaching critical and creative problem solving, collaboration across difference, resiliency skills such as growing and preserving food, craftsmanship, environmental science, earth literacy, and whole-person wellness through hands-on experiences in nature.

Our participants get dirty everyday! Students of Roots Community School spend an average of 50% of each day outside the classroom walls, connecting with and understanding ourselves, each other, and our amazing Earth.

IMPACT: Over the course of its first 5 years, Roots expects to enroll 50 full-time students, hire 6 full-time professionals, 5 emerging professionals, 10 college interns, 20 local high-school interns, and 60+ community educators, and impact over 1000 local and visiting youth through nature-based programs. Through collaborations with local universities, the local school district, and a myriad of local and national youth organizations, Roots expects to impact an additional 100 college students and an additional 100 local marginalized youth.

MEETING A NEED: The town of Estes Park has deemed Roots Community School as meeting a critical need by offering quality educational services, working with the public school district to help close achievement gaps, employing young local professionals, engaging marginalized populations, collaborating with local organizations, connecting individuals to Rocky Mountain National Park, contributing to the Town's wellness initiative, and enhancing community resiliency.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY: Roots understands that the Earth, our human and non-human communities, our organization, and each engaged individual benefit from the creativity, innovation, perspective, respect, and wisdom that results when people who have different experiences, abilities, knowledge, and skills work together in a collaborative environment. Roots is committed to making its programing accessible to those who would benefit by it the most, including those with special needs, learning differences, individuals who speak English as a second language, and/or those who are called by the mountains.

COMMITMENT TO TUITION ASSISTANCE: Roots Community School is committed to turning no one away due to lack of funds. Really. We are serious when we say we are intentionally inclusive. A special Tuition Assistance Fund is being created and with YOUR HELP all our participants will feel welcome and through this, Roots can foster a generation of individuals who see the worth and value in themselves and in a diversity of others, regardless of economic status.

FUNDING: Roots' financial sustainability is rooted in a variety of funding sources including individual giving, major sponsorship, grants, and program fees.
