The Ron Finley Project - HQ Fundraiser

The Ron Finley Project is a California-based Non-Profit dedicated to increasing healthy communities worldwide through urban gardening programs. Our primary program requiring funding for 2015 is the Ron Finley HQ.
Ron Finley HQ will be the first of many library & community projects that don’t just grow food, but also people, conversations, jobs, and community.
Located in South LA at the Vermont Square Library, HQ will be a central hub for locals to meet, eat, relax, and learn how to plant, grow, sell and cook their own food. HQ will include garden plots, a community gleaning program, an education center, public gathering spaces, and a Container Cafe where people can buy healthy meals, sell their excess produce, and purchase seeds, books, soil and tools to support their own gardens.
Basically, this will be the sexiest library in the city!
Income from the cafe will be applied back to HQ’s operating costs, allowing HQ to be self-sustained after initial funding is secured.
II. Funding Needs
$1,500,000 in public and private funding to cover planning, architectural, marketing, and operating expenses
1. Community Garden + Curated Public Gathering Space (one acre)
2. Food Education Program Center, using both classroom & garden space (creates 5-10 local jobs)
3. Retail Container Cafe for fresh food purchase, gardening toolkit purchase, and food reselling programs (creates 15-20 local jobs)

Vermont Square Library, which was built with a grant from Andrew Carnegie in 1913, is one mile southwest of USC and is the oldest operating library in the City of Los Angeles.
