Oberlin has recently (and previously) experienced traumatic events that promote bigotry within a community that shouldn't have to face these problems. We refuse to sit idly by while members of our community are attacked. We ask that Oberlin Alumni join us in raising awareness throughout the Oberlin community and our own collective networks regarding these issues of oppression.
In order to ensure supportive systems on the ground in Oberlin have the resources needed to expand their services, we are asking that you join us in donating to the Oberlin MultiCultural Resouce Center, a campus resource which admirably serves as a collaborative, supportive hub for historically underrepresented communities. The MRC is part of the dean of students office and is staffed by students and community coordinators who work hard to create meaningful programs. The MRC fights the good fight every day, serving as an institutional foundation to promote a safe environment for all.
By using this site I'm pledging to donate a small amount of money ($1-5) to the MRC in hopes that the MRC has the resources it needs to combat bigotry in light of a particularity deplorable event. If you can share this status and make the same commitment, we can help strengthen a community that has taught us so much." As we move forward in addressing these issues on campus and in our daily lives please work to ensure that these discussions remain present and strong.
