Join this one day cycling event, set your personal goal and cycle as much (64-mile round trip) or as little as you choose, up to the 32 (one-way) or 64-mile (round trip) along the Great Allegheny Passage Rails to Trail between West Newton and Pittsburgh’s South Side in support of and assisted by the American Red Cross. Riders can start at either end of the route and return to their starting location or arrange for pick up at multiple road access points along the trail.
The Steel Towns Trail Ride along the GAP Trail route will allow riders to enjoy the trail alongside the Youghiogheny and Monongahela Rivers, from West Newton through the historic steel towns of Boston, McKeesport, Duquesne, Homestead, The Waterfront and Pittsburgh's Southside.
Volunteers will host refreshments and aid stations located along the trail at approximately five-mile intervals. The end points of West Newton and Pittsburgh Southside provide excellent parking and activities to enjoy during your half-point break or after the completion of the ride.
The American Red Cross of Chestnut Ridge covers Westmoreland, Armstrong, Indiana and Fayette Counties while the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pa covers Allegheny, Washington and Greene Counties.
