The Story

Another iron-attempt... still tri-ing to do good!

My original ironman inspiration came from watching the Kona coverage as a kid.  I thought those people sounded a little crazy doing a 2.4mi swim, 112mi bike, 26.2mi run but somehow I thought it was possible...

Fast forward many years later, I began attempting triathlon when I moved to CA.  My first race was the Luna Triathlon in 2005. Luckily, Larry came for support because I definitely needed it!  I remember thinking I may drown on the swim, as I started too fast and got tired early.  That feeling quickly faded as I smiled through the bike portion riding my trusty mountain bike with rugged tires and jogged toward the finish line on the hot dusty trail. From that day I was hooked on this fun sport!  I did a few races over the next few years, and as I moved jobs a few times, I took a little break from triathlon, until I got the idea to chase the iron-dream last year...

My first ironman didn't quite go as planned (IM Lake Tahoe 2013), but I felt lucky for the opportunity to get out there and tri, and was thankful to have family and friends cheering for me along the way.

This weekend I will tri again!  I am incredibly grateful to be racing Ironman Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) on June 29th as #845. (ironmancoeurdalene.com)

I've met some great people along the way, been fortunate enough to race with friends, and was lucky to have the chance to introduce some friends to the sport.  Just recently I even joined a club team called Red Performance Multisport which was started by my great coach - a pro triathlete, Jim Lubinski (last photo), who went to Fairfield U with me!  Go Stags!

Many people have supported my crazy pants as I have worked toward the goal of completing an iron-distance event.  So this time, as I race through Coeur d'Alene, I am dedicating my race to all of you!  Thank you for dealing with my ridiculous event stories, my insane invitations to ride repeats up Mount Diablo, and for giving me food and cheers when I need them most.  I could never pursue this dream without you!  Many cheers to you!
