The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (RCPAAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) founded in 1993 to support the Richardson Police Department. All graduates of the Richardson Citizen Police Academy are eligible to join.
As citizen ambassadors to the Richardson Police Department (RPD), the RCPAAA assists the police department with volunteer activities and promotes the RPD within the community.
Activities supporting the RPD include the Annual Appreciation Day where we serve a hot meal to all those on duty including all three shifts. Other activities include gift bags for those employees working on Christmas or Thanksgiving, welcome gifts to new police officers, retirement gifts, snacks and beverages to those working traffic duty during the Richardson Family Fourth Celebration, financial help for vet bills for retired K9s and college scholarships for children of RPD employees.
RCPAAA activities to support the RPD to the local community have included sponsorship of public discussion of a local bond issue, Hispanic Leadership dinner with Richardson Police command staff, organizing candlelight memorial for our fallen officer, Back the Blue campaign to display blue ribbons throughout the city. Also, twice a year we conduct an Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding event to help keep those items out of the local landfill and to help protect residents from identity theft.
