Reyes Home Fire Devastation
Organized by: Sonja Reyes
Event Name: Live Nation - Taking Care of Our Own
You never imagine you'll get a phone call at 4am that your parents home is burning down. You never imagine when you're watching the news that the home that burned down was your neighbor or your friend. Unfortunately yesterday this did happen. At 4am yesterday morning, our parents dog, Maudie, began barking and scratching at the back door, which finally woke up our dad. He realized the detached garage was on fire. He woke our mom up and they made it safely out of the house. The flames took over the house as they watched firemen and women work to put it out for 4 hours. When the fire finally was out and there were no more hot spots, the home was only half standing, but the inside badly burned. There was very little recovered and so much lost. Thank you to the fireman who located mom's purse and cell phone and brought it to her while battling the fire. Our family banded together to support our parents through this tragedy. We went through the home to find any pictures or small trinkets we could possibly save. The devastation our children feel to no longer be able to play in the country at Grammy and Grandpa's house is very sad, and the Christmas we were planning will not be the same without their home. Although, we remind ourselves we are so thankful to have them still -- our story could be very different. We have so much love for the dogs. Maudie is safely resting, our hero!! Bruno is in shock and will not leave the home, so we will give him some time to process and protect. Our parents have what clothes and shoes we were able to give them, and Red Cross helped by refilling their medications. Please help us, help them build a new life. Donations can be taken on here. If you would rather do something else, or give physical donations please contact us.
