Revival of Jewish life has been slowly happening since the almost annihilation of the Jewish population in Europe during World War II. Krakow, Poland specifically, went from 60,000 jews before the war to 2,000 after. With the triumph of the opening of the JCC in Krakow on April 29, 2008 the hope of returning its Jewish culture prior to the war rekindled. After going to Krakow last summer, and seeing Jewish people who were part of a very small portion of a big place I felt fortunate to live somewhere where there are big Jewish communities, and I am never alone. I couldn't help feeling that it is my place to help give these people a place of belonging, like I have been so fortunate myself to have, which is why I am starting this fundraiser to raise not only funds but also awareness.
