BENEFITING: American Red Cross
The American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa is modernizing our Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) fleet as we retire older inefficient models that continually need repair. ERVs are a key component of our response allowing us to deliver food, water, and items used for recovery and clean up to those impacted by disaster. The Red Cross also provides meals and snacks to emergency responders when requested as they respond to incidents such as large fires. The Iowa Region has six ERVs that respond not only in Iowa to floods, tornadoes, and house fires, but also to large national disasters.
The ERV based in the South and Eastern Iowa chapter, needs to be replaced with a Next Generation model. A Next Generation ERV is more efficient, has lower maintenance costs, and allows better service delivery than the current model that has a design dating back to 1984.
