BENEFITING: FATHERS HEART MINISTRIES
Though our landmarked building on East 11th Street has seen many communities come and go the work of restoring dignity and hope to the people of the Lower East Side has always remained constant. From 1867 when our building was built to house the 11th Street Methodist Episcopal Chapel and later, the People's Home Church and Settlement to the present-day Father's Heart Ministries, it has seen thousands of lives healed, transformed, and changed through both practical and spiritual ministries.
But now our building needs restoration--and like the work we do, it's not just a cosmetic change. Because of the building's age, it is in dire need of repair so that the work we do--feeding the hungry, providing ESL, GED, and computer classes, job training, and spiritual formation--can continue. We're raising $500,000 with the goal of repairing our collapsing northern extension, and replacing the roof of our annex, which is in danger of caving in due to age, decay and rainwater. Once the roof is replaced and new, waterproof flooring installed, we plan to move our food pantry to the annex so we can store more food – at least four times as much food - and serve even more people than we already do.
Would you like to help us restore our future so we can continue our work of restoring others?
