RESILIENCE RISING wrote -You know when you see that news story about the girl next door who got trapped in the sex trade. You might shed a tear, or get sick to your stomach, or pray that it’s never your daughter on the news. And you hope that someone somewhere is doing something about it, something to help that girl, something to prevent it from happening to another girl. Well, you are somebody, and you can do something about it. You can support organizations like Resilience Rising that need funding to help rescue and restore the lives of these young women. It takes a village to raise a child. Please consider joining ours today. After five years of commitment and perseverance towards opening, we now have a home full of teenage girls. They are stubborn, and witty, and wild, and brave. We have had months full of breakdowns and breakthroughs. Afraid to be re-abandoned, they have tested our commitment and are slowly learning to trust. We have confronted issues of gender-based violence, family violence, and racism head on. During the week, we work hard preparing them for the future, and on the weekends, we play hard reclaiming a childhood lost. They are learning to express pain, anger, sadness, and love through poetry, song, movement, and art. "I can tell this is the start of something amazing. I wish they had brought me here sooner."
