BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
The fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all. My father was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia twelve years ago, which he will have to live with for his entire life. He went through chemotherapy and was in recovery for seven years. Just recently, he was told that the cancer has grown back to a point where he would have to go through chemotherapy again, which might be in six months to a year. The unknown that I have to face is if my dad will be there to see me graduate college, to walk me down the isle when I get married or to see me raise my children. My father has to live with cancer for the rest of his life and I fear each and everyday that I will lose him to it.
Millions of people have the same fear as I do that they will lose a loved one to cancer and others themselves fear that they will lose their own lives to cancer. Although it may feel like cancer sufferers and their families stand alone in this fight, they are not alone.
My name is Tayla and I am a part of the Colleges Against Cancer Club at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. Every year for the past seven years, the club has put on Relay for Life and all of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Through this Crowdrise account, I hope to raise $1,000 in thirty days for the Colleges Against Cancer Club. My campaign starts November 3rd, 2015 and ends December 3rd, 2015. With your help, I am hoping to help the Colleges Against Cancer Club get to their $20,000 goal this year for their Relay for Life on April 23rd that will all be donated to the American Cancer Society to help cancer sufferers and survivors and their families. Ultimately, the goal is to find a cure for cancer, which has instilled fear in countless amount of lives.
