Sisters Coffee first came into contact with the Nyampinga Coffee Cooperative in February of 2014. Jesse Durham, youngest sibling of the family business, was invited by Sustainable Harvest Coffee Importers to lead roasting workshops at an educational conference in Rwanda.

Currently the Nyampinga Cooperative is manually transporting buckets of water from a creek to a cistern, located ½ a kilometer downhill from the washing station where they process the harvested coffee. The money from this fundraiser will help the cooperative invest in a water pump from the creek to the cistern, and improve the overall infrastructure of the washing station.

In order to show our commitment towards high quality coffee and the betterment of the livelihoods of these women we are running a marathon! Sisters Coffee is running the International Peace Marathon in Kigali Rwanda on May 22nd 2016. Help us get to $10,000 before race day and change the lives of the Nyampinga coffee community!

Since 2013 the women of Nyampinga have received training in agronomy, market access, and quality control through a partnership between Bloomberg Philanthropies and Sustainable Harvest Rwanda. The result of the farmers’ hard work and enhanced knowledge of coffee production has been a resounding improvement in cup quality. Nyampinga coffees are among the finest available in all of Rwanda.”
