BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
THE STORY:
Eighth grade students at the Linden Avenue Middle School in Red Hook, NY are raising money to support Rescue.org (the International Rescue Committee) to help children and families in other parts of the world who are living in very difficult situations as refugees. The students recognize that raising even small amounts of money can sometimes go a long way toward changing lives.
$53 can deliver eight propane-powered cookstoves to enable vulnerable families to prepare their own warm meals and get on the road to recovery. $54 can provide four families with the materials they need to construct a temporary shelter that will help protect them from harsh weather. $58 can supply the tuition, books and other supplies a girl needs to attend school for a year. $84 can provide 15 warm, soft blankets for uprooted families who have lost everything in a crisis, helping them stay warm and get a better night’s sleep.
Please consider a donation to help the students reach their fundraising goal of $250, which would fund each of the four types of support listed above. Thank you for taking time to learn a little more about the great work done by the International Rescue Committee.
