BENEFITING: UNDER MY WING AVIAN REFUGE
Under My Wings Avian Refuge is still suffering from Hurricane Sandy's affects. The winds and rain have died leaving us to regroup and we need your assistance! Thank you for continuing to support our recovery efforts.
The storm effects were much greater than expected. The distributors we normally ordered from were also storm victims. The power companies were left with so much work that, even today, parts of the north region is still awaiting power.
The gas stations are either out of power, gas or they have REALLY long lines. The roads are closed or not accessible due to wind and storm damage to trees and power lines. Our distributors suffered down time and delivery issues still plague us. The postal service as well as Fed Ex and other carriers are still limping in the aftermath of Sandy. We have been able to purchase some fresh fruits, veggies, rice, pasta and other items we could feed the birds but the stores run out fast and we get only part of what we need.
The North East coast of NJ is still feeling the effects of Storm Sandy. Recovery in addition to dealing with the snow storm that followed only a week later presents new challenges and we are right in the middle of it. Your support, donations and well wishes are a great help. Words are poor tools to express our gratitude. Thank you so much for your continuing support.
The water still smells, so the birds still drink bottle water. Food, toys, treats and water are the most immediate needs.
