What would you do if your supervisor came to your office and told you that your job schedule had changed? You are now working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you cannot leave the office unless someone comes to relieve you. That schedule is the life of a family caregiver. Respite is temporary relief for family caregivers and allows them a much needed break from the stresses of caring for their loved one.
The Tennessee Respite Coalition provides resources that empower caregivers to reclaim a little piece of themselves and restore balance to their lives and relationships. For every five dollars you give to the Tennessee Respite Coalition, a caregiver will receive an hour of respite.
Listen to the voices of caregivers about how important respite is to them:
“Respite has given me time to focus on me and not feel guilty about it. The TRC gives me the choice to choose who I want to care for my mother and how I want to use my respite.” - Caregiver
“Respite has helped me keep my sanity and allowed my family to have balance again. ” - Caregiver
"Before receiving respite, I rarely took time out for myself, and I realize that having time away is beneficial to everyone in the house." - Caregiver
The Tennessee Respite Coalition serves the entire state of Tennessee with only three, full-time staff. Our team assists caregivers caring for individuals with special needs of all ages. Whether you are a mom taking care of your child with autism, or a son taking care of his aging mother with Dementia, the Tennessee Respite Coalition is here to help you with the gift of time.
