Since 1989, oneROOF Youth Services has been committed to providing for the safety, support and overall well-being of youth who are experiencing homelessness or at risk, ages 12-25, in Waterloo Region. The youth we support are facing complex barriers and wide-spread stigma. Our goal, in all the programming and services we provide, is to create a Youth Pathway Out of Homelessness that addresses the current gaps in service, from a lack in preventation programs to a lack of housing for youth. Youth experiencing homelessness simply do not have the housing history, cognitive development, maturity and life skills to transition directly from streets/shelter to independent living (when it's available). This Supportive Housing build - the CORE (Community, Opportunities, Resources and Engagement) - will ensure that this vulnerable population has, not only the needed housing units to keep them safe and secure, but the 24/7 staff support to help them develop the skills they need to eventually transition to successful independent living . oneROOF Youth Services remains committed to the sentiment that “one youth on the street is one too many.” Join us in ensuring that ALL youth in our Region have a place to call home!
Housing is right, not a privelege!
Without housing, the youth experiencing homelessness today will become the adults experiencing homelessness of tomorrow.
