The Randall Theatre Company in Medford, Oregon is a newly establishing program combining a community theater company with community outreach projects focused on providing participants creative opportunities for hope and healing within the context of the magic of expressive arts. The Randall Theatre Company name was inspired by the name of the artistic director's brother, Randy, a gifted young performer who, at the age of 18, was struggling with the life challenges faced by many young men and women and unable to find a beacon to light his path. It is our vision and commitment to join with our community and our participants to, through the experience and family of theater, help others create footlights to illuminate new paths.
A project friend has provided us with a physical space in a historic district warehouse to begin our journey and we have just completed our first event (a Halloween "Mysterium University Nightmare Chamber"). We have three projects currently in development but all of our efforts, at this time, are founded in the goodwill, shared vision commitment, and volunteer efforts of Randall friends. Our goal is to restore/transform the warehouse into a heart-healing arts center, providing meaningful community theater and other performing arts to the southern Oregon community while concurrently employing the center arts as vehicles of transformative healing and life skills development for persons confronted with histories of abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, illness, fractured families, and/or loss of direction or purpose. We also hope to embody our vision of cooperative rather than competitive community through joint fundraising efforts and support/endorsement of other arts-based programs within our community.
