Raise for Ray
Organized by: Team Ray
THE STORY:
Ray Brown is a 33-year old man who is recovering from a traumatic brain injury. He is a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, a former medical student at the University of Florida, a great friend, brother, son, grandson, cousin, and much more.
On June 21, 2012, Ray was involved in a serious vehicle accident while returning from visiting a friend in Nashville, TN. Ray had just completed his second year of medical school and was preparing to begin his third year. The accident involved a semi-truck, and Ray was left unconscious with a traumatic brain injury at the scene. Thankfully, Ray received immediate care from a physician and an off-duty police officer, and he was flown to Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, TN, where he received critical medical care to stabilize his situation.
Since that time, Ray has been transferred back to Florida, and he is currently in neuro-rehabilitation at NeuroRestorative in Tampa, FL. Since the accident, Ray has made remarkable strides in his recovery. However, recovering from a traumatic brain injury is a long and difficult process, and Ray's needs require specialized care that cannot be delivered at home. He continues to require physical, speech, and occupational therapies as part of his recovery plan.
Please donate to help Ray in his recovery. Ray has many different needs, and this fundraiser could help meet some of those. We also hope that this fundraiser keeps Ray's fellow medical students, the UF Class of 2014, involved in his life, and that it allows us to continue supporting him in his recovery.
