BENEFITING: HAGAR USA INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 16, 2013
I'm part of a team that will cycle through Vietnam and Cambodia (approximately 500km over 14 days from Feb 16 to Mar 2, 2013) to raise money to support Hagar International.
Hagar International is a transitional care organization that works with survivors of abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Vietnam, providing shelter, counseling, and education. Hagar USA is its US arm.
I'm doing this fundraiser because I believe that the work that Hagar International is doing is important in the fight against human trafficking. Also, this is a great opportunity for me to combine my PhD research and activism on behalf of a cause I care about. I'm looking forward to this physical and intellectual challenge.
I'd love it if you would consider donating to Hagar International to show your support. I'm funding all my travel costs and other expenses myself, so ALL donations (minus any Crowdrise fees) go directly to Hagar.
Note: When you donate, Crowdrise suggests an "Optional Processing Fee" of 10%. You can click on the words to opt out of this and set it to zero.
Many, many thanks for your partnership and generosity!
22 Nov 2012 UPDATE: The amazing generosity of everyone who has donated thus far (Thanksgiving Day in the US) has inspired me to raise my fundraising goal to $5000. We've crossed the $2500 line but not the finish line. I'm going to keep fundraising, and I hope you'll contribute to this cause.
12 Dec 2012 UPDATE: The ongoing support continues to amaze me. We've hit the $5000 mark, and I'd like to take this opportunity to challenge us further. Let's make it $7500! I'm looking forward to going into the field and seeing firsthand how Hagar is restoring lives, and I invite you to be part of this very important work.
