BENEFITING: Outdoor Alliance
EVENT DATE: Jun 09, 2017
On June 9, I will begin one for the most unique and challenging races in the world. The Tour Divide is a cycling event that spans 2700 miles along the Continental Divide from Banff, Alberta to the US/Mexican border town of Antelope Wells, New Mexico. My goal is to reach the Mexican border in less than 24 days (greater than 110 miles per day average.)
This race, like so many other outdoor endeavours, depend on access to our public lands. But these places are under attack again by way of private companies (often resource extraction) and the states that see profit before protection. These lands need to be kept in the public trust, free for all to enjoy. It is time for cyclists, and all who value our outdoor heritage, to protect the places we hold dear.
This is what you can do:
1. Get outside. Learn about and experience the public lands near you.
2. Contact your political representatives to voice your love and appreciation for these public spaces.
3. Consider donating to Outdoor Alliance, whose mission is "to unite the voices of outdoor enthusiasts to protect the human-powered outdoor recreation experience and conserve America’s public lands." 100% of donations made here go to Outdoor Alliance!
4. Follow my progress at this site.
Thank you for your support!
