Donnie Brown needs a heart and lung transplant to live. He is married and has 3 daughters. He contracted a lung disease that is terminal without the transplant. His wife, Tanya and their 3 girls are hoping and praying for the best outcome while the doctors determine how to move Donnie up on the transplant priority list. His condition continues to deteriorate to where he now needs a heart transplant and double lung transplant to live. He's had to sell his business because he can't work anymore. They are struggling financially to make ends meet due to the costs of Donnie's medical deductibles.

Andy Post was the band director at Lopez Middle School until he had to resign due to his deteriorating medical condition. His wife is a music teacher at Bradley Middle School. They have two boys in middle and elementary school. Andy has a heart disease that is similar to the lung disease Donnie has. He contracted it from a virus when he was 28 years old in the same way you catch a cold. Since then he’s felt flu like lousy almost constantly and the disease has no known cure; the only remedy is a heart transplant. His condition worsened this summer and he was admitted to ICU a couple of weeks ago, which triggered his status on the transplant list to be elevated to the highest level. He had the transplant procedure in late August as his internal organs began to shut down. His wife, Julie was stopped by several nurses and the hospital chaplain, who told her it was a miracle he survived. They thought he wouldn't make it through the night after his surgery as all his organs were shutting down. He has a long road to recovery and they are struggling financially due to the medical expenses.
