As the premiere youth serving organization in Detroit, serving 13,000 boys and girls annually, the mission of the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL) is to reduce crime, promote character development, and improve educational outcomes in Detroit’s youth. We know that when kids get involved in PAL, they automatically have a four times greater chance of a high school graduation. Many of PAL kids live in poverty, but because they are included in the PAL family, we respond when our kids face crisis, truancy and abandonment.
Unfortunately, we still have to turn some of Detroit’s youth away due to lack of resources. YOU can assure that no child is turned away in 2016 by supporting at least one child in our One Thousand Kid Challenge!
Former Detroit Lions’ Offensive Lineman Rob Sims and his wife Natalie have agreed to be our ‘One Thousand Kid Challenge’ honorary co-chairs and have also agreed to provide a $50,000 challenge grant or enough funds to provide for 200 kids. Now, we have only 800 Detroit PAL youth to sponsor to give each of these Detroit youth a chance to get off the streets and into a loving, caring, and teachable environment.
Consider joining Rob and Natalie Sims and Detroit PAL by taking the challenge to your friends, co-workers, and relatives! Create your own fundraising team and sponsor as many children as you can!
