It is with great excitement that Queen City Musicians announce the launch of this crowdrise fundraising campaign in support of our upcoming concert, Ode for St. Cecilia's Day by G.F. Handel. We are delighted to bring this rarely performed oratorio to life with thirty of the finest emerging professional early music specialists in the Seattle region performing on period instruments.
We are asking for your help to raise an ambitious $6,000 in 6 weeks ( Our fundraising campaign closes on January 1st at 11:59pm and all contributions are fully tax-deductable.)
Our inaugural season has already received financial contributions from our supporters, and we anticipate some funds from ticket sales. However, as is often the case in the performing arts world, we will not be able to adequately compensate all 30 of our musicians without additional funding.
17 Instrumentalists $ 3,150
16 vocalists / 1 conductor $ 1,950
2 Venues & rehearsal space for 1 week $ 750
Programs $ 350
TOTAL Expenses $6,200
Crowdrise Goal $6,000
What We Do
Queen City Musicians is a new performing arts organization with the goal of creating jobs and performance opportunities in the city of Seattle for young emerging and professional musicians. We collaborate with local Seattle musicians and other young professionals in the Univted States, creating a unique and collaborative performance experience in the Pacific Northwest.
January 2015's two performances of the all too seldom heard oratorio Ode for St. Cecilia's Day by G.F. Handel will be our largest and most ambitious project yet. We will be employing 30 emerging professional musicians for this performance; 25 local Seattle musicians and 5 guest musicians from around the United States. Two of the locals, Alexandra and Matthew Johnson are an amazing brother and sister duo in their teenage years. We are proud to feature them as our Young Artists, providing them the opportunity to perform music along side emerging professionals such as tenor, Derek Chester and Ryan Mullaney, our guest conductor.
After two successful performances, QCM is starting to turn heads in the Seattle music community. Cornish College of the Arts noticed Seattle's you professionals involvement in a recently published article on their News and Events page saying,
"Queen City Musicians is a magnet for Cornish alumni, faculty, and students who love early music. The group, which actively performs rarely heard operative and vocal works along side the familiar repertoire from the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries, is a natural outlet for the talents of [former] students who have received the Cornish Artist Diploma in Early Music."
Thank you for taking the time to check our campaign out!
We realize this time of year can be overwhelming with requests for money, and that you may or may not be able to provide substantial resources at thsi time. But please know that every amount makes a difference; and if you are not able to give, spreading the word can be equally powerful. (Queen City Musicians is an associate program of the not for profit organization, Shunpike; therefore, all contributions are fully tax-deductable.)
