Last chance to win your own purple purse!
October 31, 2017
For forty years, the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence has worked to create safe and just communities through advocacy, prevention, and empowerment of anyone affected by domestic violence.
Funds raised during the Purple Purse Challenge will strengthen the Coalition’s public policy program and bolster our statewide financial empowerment work.
The Coalition serves as a voice for victims by working with elected officials on the local, state, and national levels to advocate for and uphold laws and policies that safeguard victims’ rights, strengthen protections for survivors and their children, support prevention efforts, and allow for offenders to be held accountable.
Acknowledging that financial abuse is rooted in 99% of all domestic violence cases, the Coalition has focused its efforts, in recent years, on enhancing and developing financial empowerment services. The Coalition provides training and technical assistance to NH’s 13 crisis centers and address financial abuse through our coordination and oversight of the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP). AVAP places advocates across NH at crisis centers, police departments, and prosecutor offices with the specific purpose of providing financial literacy education, along with tangible supports, such as assistance with housing and financial resources, thereby aiding survivors in achieving financial independence and stability.
Participating in the Purple Purse Challenge is your chance to join the fight to end domestic violence in the Granite State. Please consider donating, becoming a team member, and sharing this page with your friends and family on social media—together we will empower survivors and eliminate violence in our communities for another forty years and more.
PS: We are excited that two NH crisis centers HAVEN and the YWCA - are participating in this year’s Challenge. Wouldn’t it be great to see the Granite State sweep the Top 3 and bring home an additional $185,000 to help survivors?!
