BENEFITING: WEST ENGLEWOOD UNITED ORGANIZATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 02, 2014
A purple purse, while elegant and stylish, is also serving as a symbol. Domestic violence is not only a mental and physical attack, but a financial one as well. A challenge starting on September 2 is aimed at funding victims so they can find a financial way out of an abusive situation.
The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge was created three years ago to ignite public awareness of domestic violence and financial abuse and to assist in fundraising.
That’s where Clara’s House got involved.
Clara’s House was selected as one of several non-profits across the country to compete in this Challenge, which runs from Sept. 2 to Oct. 3. Clara’s House will strive to meet fundraising goals to win money in daily and weekly fundraising contests. The charity that raises the most throughout the Challenge will get a $100,000 donation. Second place gets $75,000, third gets $50,000, fourth gets $25,000 and 5th-10th each get $10,000. We're out to raise as much money as possible for our cause so we can win the $100,000 grand prize donation.
We think that we can win and to do so, we definitely need your help! Your donation of any amount will get us one step further towards winning the grand prize. Last year due to inadequate funding the heat was temporarily turned off at Clara’s House in freezing temperatures, which put the women and children at great risk. We will not let that happen again!
All funds raised will ensure that basic needs are met so that we can direct our efforts towards our true mission – which is providing a safe haven for and empowering homeless and battered women and children.
Thank you so much for your support!
