In October 2013, my mom asked me if I wanted to run a 5K. She had been a walker for several years and had recently begun riding her bike for fitness. She was losing weight and having success. I was also making some changes healthwise. Being the competitive family that we are, I said, "Sure, let's run."
That one 5K turned into more 5Ks, which turned into 10Ks, which turned into half marathons. Together my mom and I lost over 100lbs, and we became Badass Mother Runners.
In March 2017, my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She's tough. She's a fighter. I wish I could do it for her, but I can't. I want to raise money for Project Purple because Mom still has miles to run and races to do.
