Project Description: Nourish at Purdue University will invest in the creation of a community center in Lumbisi Native Community, Quito, Ecuador. This center will aide in the continued effort to educated the children and provide a meeting place for the local community. It will also provide computers that are easily accessible for the community.
Project Details: The community center will improve children’s access to educational opportunities in the community. It will also provide a meeting place for locals, and is wheelchair accessible. This center expands on the library and greenhouses that were built last year, and will continue to provide resources for the growing community.
About Our Partner: FEVI Ecuador, is an Ecuadorian, grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating intercultural education and volunteer community service. FEVI is an accredited, full member of COMPINA, Metropolitan Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. FEVI is an accredited full member of CCIVS, UNESCO Coordinating Committee for International Volunteer Service. FEVI has been appointed in 2008 as the Latin American representative for CCIVS volunteering organizations in Latin America. FEVI is an accredited, full member, of the UNESCO, Mesa de Voluntariado, the local Unesco volunteering board.
