Promoting Active Communities Program
The Promoting Active Communities (PAC) program helps communities create vibrant places for all ages and abilities.
The PAC assessment is a free online self-assessment for communities to evaluate their built environments, policies and programs that support active living. Each participating PAC community receives a community feedback report that helps with local planning. Michigan communities that complete the assessment are eligible for an award that recognizes them as an innovative Michigan community making it easier for citizens to lead active lifestyles.
Since 2000, 147 Michigan communities in 58 counties have completed the PAC assessment and earned an award; join these communities in the movement to create places where all people can thrive.
Complete Streets, Complete Communities
Assess Your Community’s Active Design with the PAC
Registration for 2014 is now open!
Use the PAC assessment as a free consultant to see how your active living initiatives stack up against other communities. Communities that complete the PAC assessment receive a free feedback report, highlighting ways to improve your community’s active design elements, walkability and bikeability in comparison to like-sized communities. The PAC allows communities to assess Complete Streets policy and implementation and earn a specific Complete Streets score.
In addition, any Michigan village, township, charter township, or city that completes the PAC assessment receives one of five awards levels, from Honorable Mention to Platinum.
