PLC’s Amazing Race is a fundraising event organized by Calgary Health Trust for the staff and volunteers at Peter Lougheed Centre. During the month of June teams will compete in a series of fun, physical and intellectual challenges while raising money for the priority needs throughout the Peter Lougheed Centre.
PLC’s Amazing Race is modeled after the television show “The Amazing Race”. Teams will compete once per week throughout the month of June. Teams of two will strive to arrive first to the “Pit Stop” at the end of each leg of the race. The first team to arrive has the opportunity to win various prizes. The last team to arrive risks the possibility of elimination from the race or a significant disadvantage in the following leg.
Clues provided in each leg lead the teams to their next destination or direct them to perform a task. Teams are timed throughout each leg of the race and their time accumulates through to the final leg. The team with the shortest time at the end of the fourth and final leg will win PLC’s Amazing Race.
Dates for PLC’s Amazing Race 2013 are June 5, 11, 19 and 27 between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm.
Teams are encouraged to raise money for a priority need chosen by their unit/department. Teams will receive fundraising support from Calgary Health Trust through online fundraising pages, posters to display in their units and via community outreach. Every dollar raised by the team will go towards their fundraising goal.
Teams can win prizes for their fundraising efforts. Fundraising challenges will give teams more chances to win. On June 27th, the top three teams that have successfully raised a minimum of $1,000 will be awarded matching donations.
