Pike's Ascent for Kaga
BENEFITING: KAGA CREATE FOUNDATION

THE STORY:
I will be running the Pike's Peak Ascent on August 20th, 2016. This race is a uphill half marathon straight up Pike's Peak in Manitou Springs, CO.
In running the race I hope to also raise money for an excellent non-profit, Kaga: Create. The non-profit was started by a former classmate at Illinois State University and seeks to empower youth of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota to express themselves through the arts.
Through collaboration with the community of Pine Ridge Reservation, "Kaga: Create finds community members who have a desire to work closely with the youth in their creative endeavors". Those who work with the youth can become 'collaborators' who then "provide mentorship, leadership and guidance" to the youth. The goal of the organization is to motivate, support, and empower young people while also building community through artistic expression.
