The mission of the Philly Sound Exchange is to amplify student voice in conversations around race, equity, and social justice by providing platforms for youth from divergent backgrounds to collaborate through the arts.
Cross-Cultural Music Collaborations:
We use music as a common language to help students engage in conversations around race, equity, and social justice. Students from city and suburban schools work together to produce digital content that tackles difficult issues and that reflects their many identities.
Student Leadership Development:
We develop student leaders who can drive dynamic school-wide conversations around Social Justice. High School students develop skills to lead programming with Elementary students to engage the whole school community.
Amplifying Student Voice around Race, Equity, and Social Justice:
We amplify student voices through professionally produced digital content and live performances. Students work alongside professional production crews to make content that will entertain and educate.
Disrupting Racism in Education:
We partner with local Colleges and Universities to provide college-prep programming and hands-on experiences for future arts-educators with a focus on:
1) Recruiting Black/Brown students into the field of education.
2) Training in culturally responsive arts curriculum.
