THE STORY:
At midnight on April 17th, graduate students from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University will be biking the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon route. For this to not just be a ‘for the guts and glory’ race, we have decided to try and raise $2000 for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
CAIR's vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. In today's political climate, Muslim-Americans face many challenges, which require enhanced visibility and cooperation. The motto of the Pardee School is to advance human progress. As students, we are working to ensure that all human beings, no matter their location, race, creed, or ethnicity, are treated equally, with respect and dignity. It is only through respectful treatment that we can all progress.
