BENEFITING: Humane Animal Rescue
ORGANIZER: Humane Animal Rescue
EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
Hi there! This year I am running the full Pittsburgh Marathon to raise money for the Humane Animal Rescue (Western PA Humane Society with ARL)! This organization is close to my heart as 3 of our 4 animals were adopted from HAR. We are truly blessed to have an organization like HAR out there!
I adopted Lyra as a 6 yo senior cat. She was at the Humane Society for a second time after being brought back. Well, I told Lyra that day that sorry, she was stuck with me for-ev-er. She's around 16 now, and still stuck with me! Best 21st birthday gift ever!
We adopted Khalessi at the Humane Society in Portland, Oregon. She had just traveled that day to Portland from Pendleton as part of their Second Chance Program. Khaleesi is truly my shadow, and I'm so glad she made her way into our lives.
We adopted Luna shortly after we moved back to Pittsburgh and bought our first house. Her litter was found in a pile of dirt somewhere in the city. Even though I tend to adopt older animals (already trained!!), Kyle knew Luna was perfect for us, and he was so right!
Elle (White Cat, Whitey, the list goes on) made her way into her house as part of the HAR foster program. She was our second foster cat, and our first foster fail! She is the nicest cat, loves being draped over our shoulders, and cuddles every night in bed. And she gets along with the dogs. We knew she had to be a part of our family.
So that's our story! I know you all have your own set of amazing stories out there. This is why I make it my goal to raise funds for HAR every year around this time. They have brought so much good to our community!
Thank you to all those whom have donated in the past, and are considering a donation. You are greatly appreciated!
A note from HAR:
Here are some of the ways we'll use the funds you raise:
$30 will cover the cost of micro-chipping a cat or dog.
$50 will provide low-cost spay/neuter services to a family who couldn’t otherwise afford it.
$100 will provide behavioral training for an animal to help her find a new home more quickly.
$1,000 will cover the total care for an animal that stays in our shelter for one month.
