No matter what you think about refugees... there is a need to care for those who have come to the United States often running from countries where they have lived in fear from persecution or displaced because of war or terror. The funds that are raised will go directly to Lutheran Family Services of the Rocky Mountains who help resettle over a thousand refuges a year. LFS is dedicated to helping these vulnerable individuals and families rebuild their lives and by equipping them to achieve self-sufficiency within a year and continuing to support them to move to integration in their new country. I'll be running in a relay race on a team of 9 other pastors and church leaders. We will be continuing to run for a day and a half as we pass the baton from Idaho Springs and thought the Colorado mountains to Buena Vista. My first run of three will be the last couple of miles to the top of Guanella Pass at an elevation of 11,670 feet above sea level. It is nothing compared to what some refugee families must accomplish to survive fleeing their homes! Thank you for your support of our run and supporting the work of LFS in caring for our newest citizens to be!
