Hi there, it’s Chase Roberts. I am 18 years old and will be graduating from Lovejoy High School this May. Most seniors use their last summer to celebrate the last of their high school days with their friends before heading off to college. I have chosen a slightly different approach this summer by spending 10 days in Africa as part of a Young Life’s mission to share God’s love with Africa. I know this trip will not only help change the lives of so many over there, but it will also touch my life in ways that I can’t even imagine.
Once in Africa, we will spend the first several days of our trip helping out at a Young Life sponsored camp. Then, we will head to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. This 6 day climb will symbolize so many things for me…but most importantly it will help raise money for Young Life’s new camps we are helping build in Palestine.
I have a love for the outdoors and camping…but never have I ever thought of attempting something of this magnitude. And trust me, it’s a little nerve racking to think we are leaving in less than 2 months!
However, the Kilimanjaro challenge isn’t the main reason I am going. The greater reason is my mission to raise $10,000 on my own to help support the growth of Young Life in Palestine. I need your help though…. anything you can provide to help me reach my goal will make every step of that climb that much more meaningful in June!
