Outdoor Recreation Education is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established to promote healthy outdoor recreation. Founder Roddy McCalley has a degree in ecology, and twenty years experience leading wilderness trips and outdoor education programs for young people from pre-school through college age. Most of those programs have been for families and school groups with lots of money--and it's great that those folks have access to outdoor education! But it's sad that so many others do not. The goal of Outdoor Recreation Education is to raise money to address this disparity through subsidized and free programming for public schools and other underserved groups. Roddy's favorite form of outdoor recreation is rock climbing, and he works as a rock climbing instructor and guide in his home base of Joshua Tree, California.
