BENEFITING: CODE ORG
Hi, I'm Justin and I'm spending the year traveling the world and raising money for Code.org! Code.org is a non-profit organization whose mission is to expand access to Computer Science to every student in every school. If you'd like to help me out, please consider clicking on the "Donate" button and giving anything you can. To learn more about Code.org and about how I plan to raise money while I travel, please continue reading below.
"Technology is not a separate discipline that can be considered in isolation from other aspects of society; it's interwoven with every aspect of our existence. Learning to code is a pathway to full participation in the modern workforce and in public life. Providing every student with the opportunity to develop coding skills is not supplemental or elective, it's an essential part of our work to create opportunity, eliminate inequity, and prepare students for success in school, success in career, and success in life." - Tony Smith, Superintendent of Oakland Unified Schools
As a Software Engineer, I believe basic Computer Science skills to be a fundamental part of each student's education and am therefore raising money for Code.org as I travel the world. Code.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding participation in Computer Science by making it available in more schools and by increasing participation of students who are typically underrepresented in this field. Code.org accomplishes this mission by organizing the annual Hour of Code campaign and by providing the leading curriculum for K-12 Computer Science in the largest school districts in the United States.
I'll be donating 2.5 cents for every mile I travel in 2016 and 2017, but I'd love your support as well. Please consider joining me and donating anything you can to help this worthwhile cause.
Thank you for all of your support!
