What is The Omnimuseum Project?
Museums deliver powerful experiences that enrich our lives, deepening our appreciation and understanding of the world around us. So, what happens when people who create museum experiences apply their expertise to the places we inhabit every day?
The Omnimuseum Project is a non-profit 501(c)(3) whose work begins with the perspective that the world is already a museum, it's only a matter of activating people's connection to it. We draw upon the skills of museum practitioners to transform the things, places, and phenomena that surround us into informal learning and enrichment experiences. Our initiatives involve stimulating discourse, conducting research, designing and testing prototypes, and disseminating tools and information about expanding the museum experience to everyday environments.
Our work has never been more important than it is now. While museums and other cultural instititions struggle to maintain traditional modes of operation within their brick and mortar buildings, we are developing ways to help them free their missions into real world places, and serve a broader public.
