The number one barrier for low income families is childcare! Currently Oaks Children's Village offers free childcare to homeless families staying at Oaks of Righteousness Homeless Shelter and to parents who attend The Learning Bank Network GED Center. Oaks Children's Village would like to expand our childcare center to help more low income families in the Orchard East Community and the city of Monroe. We have a unique opportunity to renovate a vacant building and turn it into a Montessori style learning center where we will be able to impact the most vulnerable children in all of Monroe County. We believe that we can help parents be successful by eliminating the stress of childcare financial concerns and we can give infants and toddlers a love for learning that will break the cycle of poverty in their families. Our goal is to renovate an abandoned building to meet all State of Michigan Fire Marshal and Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs codes so that we can offer free quality early childhood education.
