BUY2THRIVE is a program that will educate mothers of young children in Mozambique about nutrition and also how to make good food purchases in local markets. This program will also train local respected women in the community how to teach this education program at workshops and small community groups.
Many poor households in countries like Mozambique purchase a portion or all of their food from local markets. While nutrition education is important, mothers (particularly of young children) need to know how to make adjustments to the food they buy as their income or availability of foods change.
The B2T program will show mothers how they can buy foods that will allow themselves and their families to thrive. It will also create impacts that last beyond the duration of the program by training local community leaders, and partnering with local organizations and nutrition experts. There is potential that these funds can be used to run a pilot program with a group of young mothers to test the curriculum.
Funds donated go through the Edward Charles Foundation for tax purposes, but all funds (minus fees) will be used directly in the program. Be sure to check out the other potential impacts of B2T and the expected budget in the pictures above! Please partner with us as we make steps to making hunger a thing of the past!
