Bwaananaabekwe Mary Moose is a knowledgeable Anishinaabe Elder and first speaker who has been working with her sons, Ogimaawab and Mishiikenh to share traditional Ojibwe teachings. Since we have been dealing with the effects of COVID-19, they have been kind enough to share the Star Teachings with us through Zoom. The Zoom sessions have been so popular with the Indigenous community, that we have been reaching the full ZOOM capacity of 100 participants as soon as Mary and Joe log into their account. Last Friday, the class was full of people in the waiting room by 6:50 pm, even though the session didn't begin until 7:00. We have heard from Anishinaabeg living in the cities, as well as people living far from their home communities, who have shared that they are grateful to have the opportunity to connect with these traditional stories and teachings that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to hear. We are asking for donations to buy Mary a Zoom Business account, which costs 1,999 per year (because you have to purchase a minimum of 10 licenses). All proceeds will go toward a Zoom account for Mary to use with her sons. Miigwech!
