We are undergraduate engineering students from all over the U.S. who have spent the past 7 weeks conducting research in computer science and electrical engineering at Wichita State University. As we conclude our summer here, we'd like to be part of a contribution to the Wichita community by participating in raising funds for Positive Directions, a non-profit that is committed to the prevention of HIV transmission.
July marks the 25th year of the Wichita, Kansas, AIDS Walk. In the past 25 years Positive Directions has made a huge impact on the community with HIV prevention, testing, and education. However, there are still major gaps in the care and prevention of HIV in Wichita.
AIDS Walk 2019 will be dedicated to funding a mobile testing van in Wichita, Kansas. Positive Directions will be able to reach out to communities who have been unable to use their services previously, whether that be from transportation or lack of education.
