PLEASE NOTE: USA for UNHCR is a US-based nonprofit that is accepting donations on behalf of the Future Prowess Islamic Foundation School. All donations are tax-deductible in the U.S. and will be forwarded to Zannah’s foundation.
Zannah Mustapha is a Nigerian-born attorney and humanitarian who has been educating orphaned children from both sides of the Boko Haram conflict for more than a decade. In 2007, Mustapha founded the Future Prowess Islamic Foundation School in Maiduguri, Nigeria. Despite terrorism, kidnapping, the murder of schoolteachers and the forced closing of area schools, Mustapha has kept the doors to his three schools open. His project also includes job training for widows of the conflict. He provides free education, meals, uniforms and access to healthcare to more than 2,000 children a year.
In 2016 and 2017, Mustapha mediated between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government (aided by the Swiss Red Cross), resulting in the release of 103 kidnapped Chibok girls on two rescue missions.
